Honda Pulls the Wraps Off its New Low-Cost Brio Amaze Small Sedan [w/Video]


What you see here is Honda's brand new small sedan for emerging markets, mainly in Asia and countries such as Thailand, where it is called the Brio Amaze and India, where it will be offered as the Amaze.

The Amaze is the sedan derivative of the Brio five-door hatchback released last year in the same region.

In Thailand, which is the first country to receive the car, the Amaze is offered with the same 1.2-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine found on the hatch.

The four-cylinder unit produces 90 horsepower and can be matched to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT, delivering a fuel economy of 20km/lt, equal to 5.0lt/100km and 47mpg US / 56.5mpg UK.

Honda Shows More of its Upcoming Brio Amaze Small Sedan in New Teaser Video


We don’t know if Honda will actually amaze consumers with its upcoming model, but we did learn that it baptized the sedan version of its Brio series Amaze (specifically, Brio Amaze for Thailand and other surrounding markets and simply Amaze for India), thanks to a new teaser video released by the manufacturer's Thai arm. Honda Makes a Mini Sedan Out of its New Brio City Car for Asian Markets


The Honda Brio will soon welcome a new member in its family in the guise of an as-of-yet, unnamed sedan model that has been teased through a lightly shadowed image on the brand's Thai website.

Just like the five-door hatchback, the sedan body style of the Brio was designed for emerging Asian markets like India, China and Thailand.

Honda Begins Construction of New Car Factory in Indonesia, will Build New Brio Hatch and MPV


Honda plans to strengthen its foothold in Indonesia through the erection of new automobile production plant at the Karawang Industrial Park in a suburb of Jakarta.

The Japanese carmaker held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday to mark the start of the construction work at the facility, which was attended by high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, as well as Takanobu Ito, Honda Motor Co. president and CEO.
