New Toyota Furia Sedan Concept Teased Ahead of Detroit Motor Show, Which Model Does it Preview?

With the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit approaching closer, more and more automakers are opening their cards, though, most of the times, not to the extent we would all like…

Toyota, for example, announced on Thursday that it will host the world premiere of a new study called the Furia through a teaser video and a simple statement saying that it will be an "an exciting new sedan concept".

Aww, Isn't That Cute? Gazoo Builds a Real-Life Mini Version of the Toyota GT 86 / Scion FR-S

Anyone remember the craze over the comically-looking mini supercars created with the help of photoshop and various other image editing programs from a few years back?

After a gazillion different design concepts of any vehicle you can think of, the fad passed and we all moved on, or so we thought, as someone over at Toyota's racing and performance partner Gazoo recently had a moment of zen giving it another go.

Mind you, we're not talking about a digital rendering, but a real life, working model designed to look like the Toyota 86 (in case you forgot, it's marketed as the Toyota GT 86 in Europe and Scion FR-S in North America).

TRD's Baja Series-Themed FJ-S Cruiser Rolling Towards the SEMA Show

It’s been six years on the market (and regardless if you like its styling), but for the most part, the FJ Cruiser looks as fresh as it did when Toyota introduced the retro-flavored SUV in final production trim at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show.

At the 2012 edition of the SEMA Show in Las Vegas next week, Toyota's display booth will host the premiere of yet another take on the FJ Cruiser built by the brand's performance arm, TRD.

2013 Avalon Sedans Tuned by Toyota, TRD and DUB Magazine for SEMA Show

Toyota seems pretty psyched up about its new and more youthfully designed 2013 Avalon full-size sedan.

While it prepares for the car's North American launch, the Japanese automaker thought it would be a good idea to promote the new Avalon and the customization opportunities it offers at next week's SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas with the unveiling of three different project models.

"The new Avalon is an attractive target for performance enhancement," said Toyota Engagement Marketing and Motorsports National Manager Keith Dahl. "Tuners always want to get their hands on a great new design with strong enthusiast appeal."

The first model is the 2013 Avalon TRD Edition developed by the brand's in-house performance arm, Toyota Racing Development (TRD).

The car is finished in a burgundy shade and features a color-keyed grille and tinted taillights with clear lenses. Dual exhaust with polished mufflers and custom tips along with new 19-inch rims wrapped in 225/40R19 Michelin rubber complete the look.

Gundam Style 2013 Toyota Auris Hatchback Looks Kinda Cool

In case you read that wrong, it's 'Gundam style' as in the Japanese animated television series about giant robots, and not 'Gangnam Style' as in the music video by South Korean rapper PSY.

The new 2013 Toyota Auris was selected for a cosmetic tune dedicated to the anime cartoon, with the Japanese automaker's in-house tuning arm Modellista taking responsibility for the transformation.

Toyota to Launch 21 New Hybrids and a New Fuel Cell Vehicle in the Next Three Years

When the first-generation Prius was launched in 1997, annual sales were negligible. Today, Toyota delivers more than one million hybrids annually and which account for 10 percent of its total global sales and 50 percent of the brand’s domestic sales.

As the current leader in the field, Toyota believes that hybrids and plug-in hybrids are the way to go and fuel cell technology is much closer to production than most people think.

Japan’s biggest auto manufacturer is getting ready to add no less than 21 new hybrids, an all-electric RAV-4 and a fuel cell vehicle by 2015.

2013 Toyota RAV4 Compact Crossover: We Take a Look Into the Crystal Ball

Yes it's almost that time; like when your faithful old phone or television becomes out of date - your attention is then drawn to finding something newer, trendier, self-fulfilling enough to make the neighbors envious.

Insert Toyota and its popular crossover here; the current RAV4 is fast growing a few grey hairs and has lost some of its youthfulness of yesteryear. Not wanting its direct competitors to seize on this, the boffins at Toyota have been working hard on its next generation of their popular compact SUV.

This hard work has become more apparent in recent months with numerous camouflaged spy photos hitting the cyberspace. Based on those photos, I have created an illustration that previews the new design direction for the 2013 Toyota RAV4.

Dear Autocar, This is Not the Next Toyota Auris…

We will start by letting you in a big "secret": we all do mistakes. Yes, Carscoop included.

Back in May, in our hurry to post a tip from one of our readers, we neglected to take a good look at French car magazine L'Automobile's patent images of the Audi RS6 Avant, which as some of you quickly pointed out, turned out to be the RS4 Avant.

Today, it's Autocar's time for a slip-up. The British magazine posted a set of patent drawings stating that these pictures preview the next Auris and not the brochure scans that surfaced online last week.

Unfortunately for Autocar, this is not true. The patent images, while real, do not depict the next Auris but the Dear Qin hatchback concept that made its debut alongside a sedan version at the Auto China 2012 in Beijing this past April.

Gazoo Racing's engineers have added both a supercharger and a turbocharger to the GT86's Subaru-sourced 2.0-liter flat four boosting output from 200hp to 315hp (320PS) and peak torque from 205Nm (151 lb-ft) to 421Nm (310.5 lb-ft). A modified six-speed manual pushes power to the rear wheels.

Toyota Once Again Rumored to be Mulling a Replacement for the Supra

After so many reports about Toyota resurrecting the Supra, one would be inclined to doubt the persistent rumors.

On the other hand, we have the example of the on-again, off-again, on-again Acura/Honda NSX, which came into fruition with the presentation of the pre-production concept at the Detroit Auto show in January.

Taking everything we have heard and seen over the past year into consideration, most importantly Toyota's newly found commitment to developing cars with more emotional styling and handling characteristics, there is a strong possibility that these rumors about a Supra replacement originate from facts.

Officially, the last time Toyota hinted at a direct successor to the Supra was in 2007 with the FT-HS Concept, a sharp looking two-seater model powered by a 400-horsepower hybrid powertrain linking a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine to an electric motor. That project ended with the financial crisis that ensued the following year.

Toyota Teases New Concept Model Ahead of the 2012 Beijing Motor Show

Two cryptic pictures and the promise that we will learn more on Monday, April 23, is all we get from Toyota about its new concept model that will receive its world premiere at the Auto China 2012, or as it is more commonly known, the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.

We can't say for sure what kind of model it is, but the front three-quarter picture points to a compact or small sized vehicle, while the second image with the blue LED accent lighting on the grille suggests that it's either a hybrid or a pure electric vehicle.

Toyota Teases New U.S. Designed Sedan with an "Athletic Look" Ahead of New York Auto Show

Here's a surprise for you. Toyota has just published a teaser rendering of a brand-new sedan model that will make its world premiere at the 2012 New York International Auto Show on April 5.

Toyota tells us that the as-of-yet-unnamed four-door saloon was designed in the United States and that it features "an elegant yet athletic look, but doesn't clarify if its a production model or a study.

The image shows us the rear end of the car, the styling of which kind of reminds us of the Toyota 86 (and of course, its Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ siblings). We're not going to jump into any premature conclusions, but we're going to admit that a four-door 86 would be a neat idea.
