Subaru Launches New Limited Edition Legacy Sedan and Touring Wagon by STI in Japan


While the big story of the day for Subaru is no doubt the Japanese domestic market (JDM) launch of the new Forester SUV, the carmaker also released a pair of special edition Legacy models prepared by none other than its famed in-house tuner, STI.

The two Legacy models are the B4 saloon and Touring Wagon "2.5i EyeSight tS", of which only 300 examples will be produced and offered to the public in Japan from now through to March 12, 2013.

Road Accident Leads to an Almost Perfect 180-Degree Parking Job


If only the blue-colored SUV was parked a few feet ahead we could have been talking about an unbelievable outcome in this accident.

What we see in this dash-cam video (likely sourced from Russia) is a driver of a Subaru Legacy Station Wagon speeding and not paying attention to the road while trying to change lanes.

Subaru Refreshes JDM Legacy, gets New FA20 2.0-liter Direct Injection Turbo with 296hp


After North America and China, it is time for Subaru to present the lightly facelifted Legacy sedan, Touring Wagon and Outback models in its home market of Japan.

While the cosmetic and chassis updates are common throughout all markets, the JDM model also gets a new 2.0GT DIT variant and an improved 2.5-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine.

The big news, of course, is the new 2.0-liter direct injection turbo (DIT) flat-four producing 296hp (300PS) at 5,600 rpm and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) from 2,000 to 4,800 rpm, or 15hp and 50Nm (37 lb-ft) more than the 2.5-liter single-scroll turbo flat four it replaces.

2013 Subaru Legacy and Outback Facelift in 58 Pictures


Subaru treated the Legacy sedan and its high-ridding Outback sibling to a mild refresh for the 2013 model year and brought both cars to the New York Auto Show for their public debut.

The two models sport more or less the same changes that include the presentation of a more efficient version of Subaru's 2.5-liter boxer engine with a double-overhead-cam (DOHC) rated at 173hp and 174 lb.-ft. of torque, up 3hp and 4 lb.-ft. from the previous 2.5-liter SOHC engine.

Subaru to Unveil Chinese Market 2013 Legacy Sedan at the Beijing Auto Show


Following the reveal of the North American specification 2013 Legacy at this week's New York Auto Show, Subaru is now planning to unveil the Chinese spec version of its mid-size sedan model at the upcoming Beijing International Auto Show, which will be open to the public from April 27 through May 2.

The Japanese carmaker teased the Chinese market 2013 Legacy through a darkened image, but it isn't really telling us anything about the changes that take place nor if they will be the same as the ones found on the updated American model.

Subaru Unveils 2013 Legacy Sedan and Outback with Reworked Fascias and New 2.5-Liter Boxer


The 2012 New York International Auto Show will see Subaru performing the world premiere of the updated 2013 Legacy sedan and Outback crossover models, both of which gain a newly developed 2.5-liter boxer four along with a new face and changes to the chassis and interior.

Subaru's new 2.5-liter double-overhead-cam (DOHC) FB series boxer engine produces 173 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft. of torque, compared to 170hp and 170 lb.-ft. from the previous 2.5-liter SOHC engine. It can be combined with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a second-generation Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission).

Subaru Refines 2012 Legacy Tourer in the UK, gets More Fuel Efficient Boxer Diesel


Subaru has launched an updated version of its load lugging Legacy Tourer in the United Kingdom. The 2012 model has received a number of technical enhancements highlighted by the presentation of a revised diesel engine and select equipment upgrades.

The most important change for 2012 is of course the fitment of a tweaked 2.0-liter flat-four turbo diesel engine, which is Euro 5-compliant and features a more efficient turbocharger, and new exhaust-camshaft timing and lighter connecting rods. It also gets a new oxidation catalytic converters and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

Cry Me a Tear: Subaru New Japanese Commercial for the BRZ Coupe


Subaru has released a new 2+ minute long spot for the freshly launched BRZ coupe in its home market of Japan. And it's pretty dramatic, but not in the way you'd expect an ad showcasing a rear-wheel drive sports…

Apparently, Subaru's marketing folks in Japan believe that healthy doses of drama can create some sort of emotional connection between buyers and its cars. As you can see in the videos after the break, Subaru has whipped up similar ads for its Forester and Legacy models.

And oh, don't forget to blow your nose and while your tears away after you're done watching the three spots.
