2006 Caresto V8 Speedster

Only 2 units produced, the Caresto V8 Speedster is a hand-built mid-engine Hotrod

designed and built by ex-Volvo designer Leif Tufvesson, who also founded Caresto.
It features a custom fabricated tubular steel frame, 
hand crafted aluminium body, carbon composite hard top roof, 
Powered by a mid-mounted 4.4 litre ethanol-fueled Volvo V8 developing 340 hp. 
There is a sensor in the engine compartment which can tell when 
the temperature is getting a little hot and automatically 
open the rear hatch to allow cooling air to enter.
For the interior Caresto has trimmed the V8 Speedster in the finest Scottish leather.

The car is extraordinarily well built, wîth millimeter precision in every part of the bodywork. 

The steering wheel, instruments and gear selector come from Volvo, 

as does the V8 engine, the 6-speed automatic transmission and the car's electrical system.

The engine is tuned wîth the environment in mind, 

and has been converted to ethanol by Scandinavia's leading car tuning company BSR.

2005 Caresto T6 Roadster

Caresto is a Swedish car company which was started in 2004 by Leif Tufvesson, 

who is one of Sweden's most skilled specialist car builders and customizers. 

Many of his cars have received widespread international acclaim. 

He is the man who built the Caresto T6 Roadster and the 2006 V8 Speedsters, 

shown by Volvo at the 2005 and 2006 SEMA Shows, respectively, in Las Vegas. 

The hand-built T6 Roadster hotrod is based on a Volvo twin turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine. 

The engine is in back, located just behind the supportive leather bucket seats.

The gearbox is a 5-speed Geartronic transmission that sends the power to the rear wheels. 

The custom fabricated tubular steel frame was hand formed. 

The front wheels are some 8.5 inches wide and 20 inches in diameter, 

the rears are a full 10-inches wide and 22 inches in diameter. 

Inside the T6 Roadster, all panels and seats are dressed in finest Scottish leather. 

HotRod magazine named the Caresto T6 concept the 2004 HotRod of the Year,

2001 Volvo SCC Concept

The Volvo Safety Concept Car (SCC) made its debut at the Detroit Motor Show in 2001.

The distinctive rear end of the concept featured a hatch inspired by the Volvo P1800ES. 

It was an experimental car with an incredible array of innovative safety technologies,

including a sensor that identifies the location of the driver's eyes. 

The seat then automatically adjusts to suit the position of the eyes 

so that the driver obtains the best possible field of vision. 

To improve visibility, the driver can see through the windscreen's supporting pillars. 

A radar unit that detects blind spots and alerts the driver. 

Rearward-facing cameras integrated into the door mirrors 

can show the driver what is in the blind spot behind. 

An infrared light enhancer boosts nighttime vision. 

A forward-facing camera monitors the position of the car on the road 

and alerts the driver if there is any tendency to veer off course. 

The brake lights flash to alert following traffic in harsh brake application.
Design elements from the car were later used in the Volvo C30 which went into production in 2007.
