Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute Probed for Sticky Throttles After Many Incidents Including Fatal Crash


New reports of alleged sticky accelerator pedals are coming back to haunt Ford and Mazda as government safety regulators are investigating complaints from owners of the Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute SUVs with V6 engines from the 2001 to 2004 model years.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Tuesday that the probe affects an estimated 730,000 Escape and Tribute SUVs in the United States.

Ford Announces Fuel Economy Ratings for New 2013 Escape, Returns up to 33mpg


The official fuel economy numbers for the redesigned 2013 Ford Escape are in and the news is good for the Blue-Oval as all three of the available engines in the compact crossover achieve 30 mpg (7.8lt/100km) or better on the highway.

In more detail, the Escape's entry-level 168hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine returns 31 mpg on the highway, which is a 3 mpg improvement over the previous model's standard engine, and 22 mpg in the city.

Ford's Geneva Motor Show Presentations to Include Production Versions of Kuga and Fiesta ST


With less than a week left for the grand opening of the 2012 edition of the Geneva Auto Salon, we're continuing our reports on the vehicles that will make it to Switzerland with the Ford brand.

Ford Plans to Triple Production of EcoBoost Engines in 2012


Downsizing, direct injection and force induction are the way to go for internal combustion gasoline engines to meet the ever-tightening fuel and emissions standards.

Ford has followed this recipe to the letter with its EcoBoost “family of engines and so far it has paid off nicely, recording 127,883 sales in 2011.

The best-selling F-150 pickup truck is the perfect example. In 2010, all units sold in the U.S. were powered by V8 engines. Last year, more than half of F-150 buyers (56 percent, to be precise) downsized to a V6, choosing either the base 305HP 3.7-liter or the 365HP 3.5-liter EcoBoost.
